Dato che tra qualche mese dovrò partire per Londra e dovrò stare in quella località per un bel po' di tempo, ho deciso di configurare il mio iPhone 3GS affinché possa fungere da modem per il mio Netbook. Su Windows l'operazione è abbastanza semplice e non richiede molte operazioni, mentre su Linux è leggermente più complicato, ma non impossibile. Tuttora il modo più semplice per connettersi al deviece è usare il Bluetooth che è molto più easy to configure than the USB port that requires completion of certain packages.
Guide:
First we have to install a few packages and especially the "container" of drivers for the iPhone: Blueman. Open a terminal and type these commands:
1) The following command is used to add the repository Blueman.
sudo apt-add-ppa repository: Blueman / ppa
2) This one is used to update the system:
sudo apt-get update & & sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
3) Finally, CODEST command is used to install Blueman
sudo apt-get install Blueman
Now, our system is ready to connect to the internet via the iPhone. We turn on the phone. We need to reach the Bluetooth settings window, which can be found under General -> Bluetooth. Activate the communication system with a simple click on the button activation. Without this, it will start to look deviece Bluetooth to connect to. Now we turn on our Ubuntu and click on System -> Preferences and in the end Bluetooth. We should get a window like this:
Now click on "Set Up New Device ..." and we follow the procedure gudata to "match up" the iPhone to your PC and I would recommend at the end select "Internet access using the mobile phone": 
Now take our iPhone in hand and go back in the Bluetooth settings and note that it is a pop-up card with the name of the PC, in my case Umby-laptop, click on this tab and it should leave the word "Connected" or "Connected". 
Note the Bluetooth logo that lights up in blue? This "change" interface means "Watch out! Are you using the Bluetooth". IPhone now increasingly under the path (General -> Network -> Internet Tethering) Click the button to activate the tethering. 
Well here we are. Now we need action from our PC, you know the NetworkManager applet icon? That close all'orologio, dove sogliamo cliccare per collegarci a un access point o alla rete cablata? Forse un'immagine può dare una mano: 
(Cliccate sull'immagine per ingrandire) Bene, notate che il PC ci indica che l'iPhone di Umberto può essere un modem per collegarsi ad internet? Ora cliccate sul MAC ADDRESS del vostro iPhone, nel mio caso: 00:26:4A......
Sulla Springboard del nostro iPhone è comparsa una barra che indica che siamo connessi con il tethering.
Ora siamo connessi ad internet! Attenzione: vieppiù usate la connessione ad internet dell'iPhone il vostro credito residuo tenderà a scendere a patto che non abbiate un contratto ADSL con il vostro gestore telefonico.
